PostHeaderIcon Outdoor Play Time & Recycling

This interesting article addresses some of the key issues regarding Recycling. A careful reading of this material could make a big difference in how you think about Recycling.

Without a doubt the best play time is spent outside in the fresh air and in an effort to remain responsible to the environment there are a few things to keep in mind when out and about.

The best place to play is somewhere that you don’t need to fly to, take a train to, or drive to. Yeah, your own backyard is a good place but not everyone is fortunate enough to live near a national park. There are bike paths to find and trails to hike that can be found all over the place, and can be new journeys of adventure with very little effort. Check with your town or city hall, they may have little treasures all over your community that you go past everyday and are not aware that there is a walking path tucked in somewhere because you don’t take the time to walk in and explore.

Always remember when you are enjoying yourself outdoors that the other people around are trying to enjoy themselves too, so do everything possible to remember to leave the beautiful spaces as beautiful as they were when you arrived. Today, with trash cans everywhere you look, there is no excuse for leaving trash behind and that means cigarette butts, too. Take a few minutes before leaving the area you have been enjoying and be sure that all of your trash goes with you, so it won’t become a burden for the next person to deal with.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Recycling. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

Spending a day in a park or at a beach will greatly outweigh the alternative to watching TV and running electronics in your home, depriving yourself the added benefit of fresh air and exercise. Walking the beach will never affect your electric bill and picking up after yourself will only encourage the next person to do the same. The power to make choices about what to do with our leisure time is great and being able to choose an activity that will not impact your financial responsibilities is a wonderful freedom.

If a mode of transportation is needed to arrive at the spot you’re headed to, try to use the least pollutant-adding means possible. Riding a bike is better than driving a car, so depending on the distance that is needed to travel, make the best choices that will not add to the pollutants our air is facing. If it is a possibility, use mass transportation to get to where you need to go. A bus or a train is always better than driving, but if you have to drive, be sure to pack as many people into one vehicle as is possible. You may need to drive, but driving one car is a whole lot better than driving four of them.

Making choices to help our great outdoors is not difficult, but there is some thought involved and don’t we owe it to the planet to take the time necessary to make the choices that will benefit it, in the long run?

When word gets around about your command of Recycling facts, others who need to know about Recycling will start to actively seek you out.

PostHeaderIcon A Review Of Today’s Popular Recycling Programs

If you have even a passing interest in the topic of Recycling, then you should take a look at the following information. This enlightening article presents some of the latest news on the subject of Recycling.

As more and more people worry about the state of the planet, many are now actively advocating about the need to conserve, and wisely use our precious natural resource. Recycling is one of the most popular conservation programs today. It involves the re-processing of old and used materials into new or reusable products. A lot of materials can be recycled.

Apart from metal, glass, plastic, aluminum, textiles, paper and electronics, organic wastes can also be composted and made into fertilizer. Rubber tires can now also be shredded and turned into insulation, erosion barriers and other unique products. Here’s a review of the popular and widely-accepted recycling programs of today.

In the US and elsewhere around the world, recycling and waste-recover programs take different forms. The United States recycles as much as thirty percent of its solid waste; European countries like Sweden, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands however have recycling rates of as high as 60 percent. Here’s a look at the most popular recycling programs today.

• Drop-Off Centers For Recyclables

A drop-off center refers to a central location that’s established to accept different types of recyclable materials. Even if a town or city has special curbside pick-up points, consumers may wish to transport their used materials here, especially if they have hazardous or toxic materials at home, and don’t know how to safely store these.

• Curbside Pick-Up Points

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

In a curbside recyclable pick-up program, specially-fitted trucks with separate containers roam the streets just like garbage trucks. Garbage-disposal crews then sort the materials that are thrown into the truck. However, some towns and cities require their residents to first sort the recyclables themselves, to make it easier for garbage crews to handle the recyclables.

• Refund or Deposit Programs

This program is popular in the US, especially for buyers of canned or bottled beverages. The beverage bottles or cans have a deposit added to the purchase price. Consumers may return the empty can or bottle to a collection facility, and redeem the deposit, which usually goes from one to five cents.

• Buy-Back Centers

These recycling centers operate in the same way as drop-off centers. However, these pay homeowners or consumers a price that’s based on the market value of their items.

Recycling offers a wide array of economic and environmental benefits. Recycling can help save millions of dollars from city or municipal budgets, because there’s less demand for landfills or new garbage collection trucks. Recycling can also generate as much income per ton as a landfill, and also generates six times as many jobs. A wide array of used consumer items are also collected and converted back into raw material, and are remade into new items or products.

This generates considerable savings for both manufacturers and consumers, and significantly reduces the volume of trash disposed in landfills.

There’s no doubt that the topic of Recycling can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about Recycling, you may find what you’re looking for in the next article.

PostHeaderIcon Send Earnings

Sendearnings.com is an excellent way to may a few dollars while sitting home doing nothing. Just for signing up to this online survey company, I received a $5 bonus. I then began participating in a few surveys that paid $1 each. In less than a half an hour, I earned $7.

Signing up for this service is rather simple. You simple click on to the website, give your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address. This sometimes goes into your bulk or span folder, so look for it shortly after you sign up. In order to earn any money at sendearnings, you must confirm your e-mail address.

The surveys for sendearnings are simpler than those on some other paid survey sites. They actually seem legitimate and do not direct you to countless of other websites. They will occasionally send you e-mails from their advertisers. If you click on these e-mails and visit the sites, you will also receive a small bonus from the survey company for doing this. It is important, to remain an active member of SendEarnings to continue to visit the websites of the sites advertisers. You don’t need to purchase any products or provide information. Simply click on and click out – it’s that simple. Those who don’t visit the websites are normally put on the “inactive” list and not eligible for pay. So be sure to check your spam folder every other day or so from the sites advertisers.

Only one user for the site is permitted per household. You cannot make up “fake names” and use the same computer, either. Your IP address will be tracked and will result in you getting kicked off the site.

I was actually impressed by the first paying survey I did for SendEarnings. It was all about gym shoes and although it asked dozens of questions, it was about a topic I knew something about and a product that I often purchase. Another survey I attempted was denied by the site because I didn’t fit the criteria. This did not deter me, in fact it added some credibility to the site.

There are dozens of free surveys in which you can participate in SendEarnings. In addition to answering survey questions, participants can refer other members to the site and earn a bonus if they sign up to do the surveys. More money can be made by continuing to visit the sites’ advertisers.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Paid Surveys story from informed sources.

Payment is made once a month, but for not less than $30. Once you have earned $30 in your account, you can request payment. Payments are sent to your house via check or money order and there is a $3 fee if you request a money order.

Those living outside the United States can also sign up for this service, however they do need to speak English as this is the only language available on the site. WebTV users are also permitted to participate as well.

Once you have made $30, you can request payment from the site. However, do not expect it to come quickly. Most of the survey sites I have visited take about 30 days to send out payments to individuals. You also must continue to be a member in good standing in order to get paid, so bookmark the site and visit it each day. And be sure to pay attention to the e-mails you receive from the site. They will not only earn you a percentage of the profits, but will keep you an active member of the account.

Members of the site can purchase a “Gold Membership” which gives you extra benefits including unassigned referrals. When I signed up for the website, I did not do so through a referral, so my referral bonus went to a Gold Membership member.

Once you have completed a survey, it can take up to five days to show up in your earnings account, although some survey payments show up immediately. In many cases, it takes a while to confirm the survey. I have found that this is the way of most survey companies.

For the most part, I found Sendearnings.com to be a reputable online survey site. Although the survey process was a bit lengthy, there were no “hidden agendas” and the survey stayed right on target. It reminded me of taking a survey at the mall. I definitely recommend Sendearnings.com to anyone who is thinking about taking surveys at home for extra money.

There’s a lot to understand about Paid Surveys. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

PostHeaderIcon Zoom Panel

The following article presents the very latest information on Paid Surveys. If you have a particular interest in Paid Surveys, then this informative article is required reading.

An online survey company that does market research for a variety of fast-food restaurants, including McDonalds and KFC. A couple of their other clients include General Mills, Proctor and Gamble and Microsoft. Zoom Panel makes the grade of one of the “legitimate” online survey sites on the internet.

Membership is free for this site. There are no fees involved and they will not share your information with telemarketing companies. They also promise not to “spam” you inbox with a variety of ads.

Rewards are based on points. Surveys regarding different products are sent via e-mail. You are under no obligation to participate in any survey. Each survey earns the participants “points.” When accumulated, the points can be redeemed for prizes or gift cards. Zoompanel does not pay cash to individuals participating in surveys.

Those interested in participating in this website should answer “yes” to all of their questions in order to receive the most surveys. If, however, you answer a couple of questions and find out that you do not qualify for a survey, you are eligible to play a game called “spin to win” where you can earn points or prizes.

It’s really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Paid Surveys. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

Each survey is worth between 25 to 150 points. Points for gift cards and merchandise can be redeemed once you reach the 1000 point level. If you manage to refer a friend to the site, you will earn 100 points for each friend referred. This is probably the easiest way to gain points with doing as little work as possible.

Referring a friend to a survey company is easy. This can be done in a variety of ways. You can send a link to the site to all your friends via e-mail. Or you can rave about how well you’re doing on the site on your MySpace or other blog site and include a link. This is the easiest way to earn points and/or money for every legitimate online survey site that offers rewards for referrals. Be advised that Zoompanel limits you to 400 points a month for referrals.

One of the exciting things about zoompanel.com is the opportunity to view different products and/or concepts before they are available to the general public. The information is gathered in a database and presented to those companies that use this site to gain information from the public. McDonald’s, alone, spends millions of dollars a year conducting surveys about its products and uses several different avenues to gain information.

A word of warning: Don’t expect to get “big rewards” for participating in zoompanel, Rewards at the 1000 point level consist of battery charges and other little gadgets. Even at the 5000 point level the rewards are comparable to those banks used to give out as premiums.

The positive aspect of participating in this site is the chance to view new and exciting products, not receive telephone solicitations, answer simple, brief surveys and gain a little prize now and then. This is not a way to make money, but can be a lot of fun. And yes, this site is completely legitimate.

PostHeaderIcon Merchant Account and the Credit Card

Current info about Merchant Account is not always the easiest thing to locate. Fortunately, this report includes the latest Merchant Account info available.

Merchant account plays a big role in the success of any credit card transaction. That is why it is very important for people—especially those who rely so much on the plastic card—to familiarize themselves about it so they will know what to expect from their credit card brands and they would know what to do when any problem arises.

Merchant account refers to a contract wherein the bank the bank that aims to acquire prolonged line of credit to a merchant that accepts payment transactions through card of a certain card association or brand. One of the things that credit card users must know about merchant accounts are the methods that involve the processing of credit cards. Nowadays, majority of the transactions that involves credit card concern electronics. These transactions are electronically-sent to the merchant processing bank subjected for authorization, deposit and card capture.

Methods of processing credit cards will mainly depend on the industry itself. Since it is already electronic, the means by which information is obtained is made possible by the magnetic strip. When this is swiped in the credit card terminal or reader—a “stand-alone” type of electronic equipment allowing an individual merchant to accept information needed to complete any credit card transaction—all the information about the credit card holder and transaction being made will automatically transferred and made available on computer and website for record purposes.

Merchant account providers advise credit card holders to swipe their cards whenever a transaction is being made to ensure that there will be reduced incidents of fraud when the card is stolen.

The right credit card as a key to avoid financial troubles

The best time to learn about Merchant Account is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Merchant Account experience while it’s still free.

Merchant account is an inevitable part of any credit card acquisition and transaction. This is because it enables the individual to create purchase and other transaction without having to worry too much about safety. However, the advantages and benefits of having the right merchant account provider come with the wise choosing of credit card itself.

To avoid financial and debt troubles, people who rely on credit cards must be very careful in acquiring one. Choosing the right credit card will not only pave the way to finding the right merchant account provider but can also veer you away from debt problems. People who are planning to apply for a credit card must pay attention to the merchant account provider to ensure that he or she will reap benefits in the long run. Here are some considerations before applying for a credit card:

- The Merchant account provider. This is very important because it will determine how smooth-sailing your transactions would be. Most credit card providers do not usually divulge the merchant account provider thinking that this is not something that would really concern the client. If you want to ensure that there will be no problems in your future transactions, take time to know the merchant account provider behind the credit card line that you are applying for.

- Pay attention to interest rates. This can be referred to as “fixed-rate” or “adjustable rate” in most credit cards. People who are not into low APR credit cards, they would want to avail of fixed rate credit cards because even if the rate is a point or two higher than the usual, this ensures that people can pay off their loan quickly without even noticing the big difference.

- Always be aware of the credit limit. This refers to the total amount of credit that a credit card holder is authorized to use in his or her transactions. Clearly identifying the credit line, the merchant account provider, and the size of the credit line, will help the holder to decide how reliable he/she can be when it comes to paying on time and keeping him/herself under the card’s limit.

PostHeaderIcon The “Green” Benefits of Computer Recycling

Computers are an important part of our daily lives these days. We use them for sending e-mails and other office correspondence, and we also use them for surfing the Internet, or for watching our favorite movies and TV shows. We also use the PC for networking with friends or family.

However, what happens when the PC you have at home becomes obsolete? Will you be simply throwing these down the landfill? Let’s have a closer look at the benefits of recycling computers.

Obsolete Computers Are a Good Source of Raw Materials

Even if you’re home computer is already one useless piece of equipment after a few years, it won’t mean that it’s totally useless. An obsolete computer actually serves as a wonderful source of useful raw materials. However, if the old computer is not properly disposed or handled, it can be a source of harmful toxins and carcinogens, which pollute the environment and can cause death and injury to both man and animals.

Rapid advances in technology, coupled with low initial costs has resulted in an ever-increasing surplus of computers and computer parts worldwide. The Environmental Protection Agency of the US estimates that there are 30 to 40 million surplus PC’s in the US alone, and that 63 million PC’s were either traded for replacements, or simply throw away last year.

If your Recycling facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Recycling information slip by you.

The Rise in The Numbers Of Surplus PC’s Is Posing A Serious Environment Threat

The EPA further adds that most of today’s electronic waste often ends up in landfills, or gets incinerated. The dumping of these waste in landfills, or their burning in incinerators, is already having a very negative impact on the environment. Because a computer has different components that are made from a wide array of raw materials, these release toxic ingredients like mercury, lead, cadmium, and other radioactive material into the groundwater, soil or air.

Many Computer Parts Can Be Recovered Through Recycling

Because of the toxic nature of most of the computer’s parts, the storage, handling, disposal and recycling of computers is a sensitive task. The good thing is that most of the materials used in making computers can actually be recycled. Materials such as aluminum, tin, silicone, iron, copper, gold and a wide array of plastics, can be reused or re-processed, which help in reducing the cost of manufacturing new computer units.

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 used to be the main federal law governing the recycling of computers. However, new federal bills, such as the National Computer Recycling Act, have been introduced to reduce electronic waste, and mitigate their environmental impact. Many computer manufacturers are now also offering some form of recycling to their clients. The user can request that his old computer be picked-up by the manufacturer, or the company can get them for recycling at specified drop-off points, where they also coupons to customers for use in purchasing future computers or parts.

PostHeaderIcon Binoculars for Bird Watching

Bird watching is a very popular hobby next to gardening. Given that these creatures come in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes, how can we not watch and enjoy them? All you need is a book and a good pair of binoculars for bird watching.

The challenging part about bird watching is the fact that this requires a lot of patience and practice. But once you get the idea, you are able to improve your style and in no time be addicted to this hobby.

But why do you need a pair of binoculars? Simply because you cannot get too close to the birds on your own. Otherwise, you will just scare them and they will fly away.

A good pair will allow you to see them up close while those that are of poor quality will not really make you enjoy what you are looking at. When you are looking for a good pair to buy, go for something branded and although this may seem expensive, just consider it as a long term investment.

One thing you have to be sure of this that the magnification of the binoculars should at least have 7x power. What this means in simple English is that you can see it 7 times closer than they actually are. There are other brands that can do 8x and 10x but some find it difficult to hold it steady.

You will notice that there is a second number after the x that could be 35 or 40. This describes the diameter in millimeters how large the lens is when it is faced with the object of interest.

The more authentic information about Bird Watching you know, the more likely people are to consider you a Bird Watching expert. Read on for even more Bird Watching facts that you can share.

The rule of thumb here is that the higher the figure is, the greater the amount of light will enter through the binoculars making the image clear and not blurred.

You must never ever buy compact or pocket sizes binoculars even if they say it is 8 x 21 or 10 x 21. This is because they only have a narrow field of view so it is hard to keep track of the bird when they take flight.

Once you have found the right binoculars for bird watching, it is time to get a book that shows a description and information about the bird. You have to remember that not all birds are found in the same area and when you have an idea of what you are looking for it will be very easy for you to narrow your search.

With the two things in hand, you can already go off bird watching. Some people start by looking out the windows of their homes and then going to the zoo before venturing off into the park.

It will also be a good idea to join a bird watching club as they organize field trips out of town and go into the forests which allows you to get up close and personal with these creatures in their own natural habitat.

If only humans could zoom in on an image like the eagle, we wouldn’t need to bring a pair of binoculars for bird watching around. But since we don’t, we need something to help us out. Remember, you don’t always have to buy the most expensive one around because patience and skill are essential when you are out there trying to spot them amongst the trees.

There’s no doubt that the topic of Bird Watching can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about Bird Watching, you may find what you’re looking for in the next article.

PostHeaderIcon Recycling Hazardous Wastes – How It’s Done

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage–at least it seems that way. If you’ve been thinking you need to know more about it, here’s your opportunity.

According to official US environmental laws, a hazardous waste is generally referred to as any waste that poses serious threats to the environment or to public health. These types of waste have the potential to cause irreversible illness or environmental damage, especially if these are improperly treated, stored, transported, disposed or managed. Here’s a primer on how to recycle and store hazardous waste.

What Differentiates Hazardous Waste From Commercial Waste?

Commercial waste is often defined as the waste or garbage that’s often generated by most businesses and commercial establishments. Hazardous or toxic wastes on the other hand, are waste materials that may cause death, serious injury and other serious health risks to man and other living creatures.

In the US, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other state departments manage and oversee the laws which regulate the disposal of hazardous wastes. The EPA requires that hazardous wastes be handled with extra precaution, and should also disposed at designated facilities. Among the materials that need to be handled with extra care include medical waste, commercially-generated waste, electronic items and components, radioactive materials, ammunition, and other unknown materials.

Hazardous Waste Cannot Be Disposed By Conventional Means

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Recycling, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

Hazardous wastes come in different physical states, from liquid, solid, gaseous and others. These types of wastes cannot simply be disposed through conventional garbage disposal methods, and depending on their physical composition, a specialized treatment or disposal process may need to be done.

A lot of people are totally unaware that their homes or offices are often filled with lots of toxic products, which may have harmful effects to the environment if these are improperly disposed. You can actually find lots of toxic products in your kitchen to storage room, from furniture polish, nail polish, floor wax, drain cleaners, laundry detergents, paints and solvents, toilet bowl cleaners, motor oils, antifreeze, window-washing fluids, batteries and many more. Remember that most of these fluids should never be poured down the drain, because they contain corrosive ingredients.

What Are The Different Methods For Recycling Hazardous Wastes?

One method for handling and recycling hazardous wastes is called waste reclamation. Through this method, a toxic or hazardous product is put through a process which makes it reusable again. Many chemical wastes can actually be reused through this recycling method.

Examples include mercury, which can be retrieved from mercury barometers and reused again for different purposes. In the proper recycling of household hazardous wastes, most towns and cities today have installed programs for recycling them. Some towns have receiving points where people can drop their used batteries, used paint, broken computers or damaged cars. Some towns also have collection facilities for recycling used motor oils, paints, textiles and other electronic components.

PostHeaderIcon Bird Watching with Kids

If you are looking for something fun to do with your family on weekends, but are tired of the usual activities, why not try nature for a change, such as bird watching? Yep, if bringing those kids to the wilderness once in a while means dragging them out off the couch and from television set or their video games should be fine, right? Bird watching with kids might also inspire them to care more for the environment.

Introduce your kids to bird watching slowly. You can start with the birds that visit your backyard. What you can do is provide some sort of bird feeders to attract some birds and voila, you can have as much fun as you will have in amusement parks or in the movies. Beginning with the local bird species will also help your young ones to get familiar with the different species of American birds. They get to learn the various animals (which incidentally are almost always located in Africa such as lions, elephants, tigers) from television and from school but are unable to identify an American robin.

To get your quality time dubbed backyard adventure dubbed scientific study rolling, you will have to prepare basically two very important equipments. First, a good bird guide is necessary. You will have to get something that you kids will understand, of course. A simple, highly illustrated, richly colored bird guide will do. You don’t have to be comprehensive. You can settle with books talking about local species and eventually move up to the more all-embracing field guide as your kid’s interest and knowledge grow.

A good guide will also teach children what they should or should not do in different situations like when they find a bird’s nest, bird’s eggs and even newly hatched chicks. Part of the guide’s responsibility is to spur interest on birds and nature, if possible. A challenging job for a guide, but as parents you have a share to that responsibility as well.

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

The second important thing that you will need would be a good pair of binoculars. You can find binoculars for kids in the market. You might want to think of settling for those kinds so your kid can properly hold them. They might find it difficult to hold the big ones. Another option would be to position the binoculars to focus on the bird feeders and then mount it on a tripod so your kid doesn’t need to hold it.

Be wary of your clothes as well. Be aware that you would have to wait for some time, if you’re in your backyard, or walk a considerable distance if you’re backyard is a ranch, farm, or forested area, before you a bird sighting.

But walking, waiting and watching the birds feed and fly away in your backyard is not the only activity that you and you kid can do. You need to engage your kids to other bird related activities to keep them interested. Other activities include making bird feeders, a bird house, or creating a bird journal.

Bird watching is also a good opportunity to introduce your kid to other skills like photography or illustrating. Bird watching with your kids is a great activity that can be vital to your child’s development. It is an interesting and engaging project that, in my opinion, should be practiced by all parents.

Now you can be a confident expert on Bird Watching. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Bird Watching.
