PostHeaderIcon Dangers And Risks Of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is fast becoming a suitable alternative for individuals suffering from any form of medical condition. Many believe this is a preferable option due to the non-invasive approach that is associated with the practice. But is it really as safe as it is depicted?

Common Side Effects of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is believed to be the safest form of healthcare currently available. But it is still considered as a form of ‘intervention’ and therefore exposes a patient to some level of dangers and risks.

One of the most common risks experienced by patients who has had chiropractic treatments done, regardless of what condition is being healed, is a feeling of soreness on various parts of the body or muscle. This is because your body and its muscles are trying to adapt to the changes in the function caused by the intervention.

The pain undergone by a chiropractic patient could last for a period of 3 to 6 weeks, at most. However, once you have gone past that stage then you will noticeably lose all feeling of pain and begin to heal without suffering from any long-term complication from the treatment.

Extreme Risks and Danger

Depending on the physical or health complaints of the patients, chiropractic care can be focused on specific areas of the body. The neck is one of those common areas being treated with chiropractic.

In extreme cases, chiropractic care to the neck could result to some damage on the vertebrae. The result of such damage could be as extreme as the manifestation of stroke-like syndrome since the vertebrae is such a sensitive part of your system. This condition is very rare though, but still the danger exists.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and Chiropractic Care experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Chiropractic Care.

Research and study are currently ongoing to determine exactly how common (or rare) the occurrence is. However, if you were to compare it with other causes of death in the US alone, chiropractic spinal adjusting is an extremely rare case.

Myths vs Reality: Chiropractic Risks

Although cases of side effects or condition suffered by patients of chiropractic care are quite rare, it has been represented differently on the media. In fact, chiropractic adjustments on the spine and neck have been labeled as dangerous procedures. While it is important to proceed with caution, there has been several myths surrounding chiropractic care that are completely false.

For instance, there has been cases of chiropractic patients in the past that have suffered from brain injury following chiropractic procedures. Many readily conclude that the brain injury came about due to the adjustments undergone.

However, close examination would reveal that these patients already had significant risks to acquiring brain injury or any other illnesses even before the chiropractic care was provided for them. Moreover, no significant connection can be made with chiropractic care and the acquisition of these illnesses. This does not ultimately dispel the dangers and risks though.

Research Efforts on Chiropractic Treatment

Despite the lack of a conclusive case that will justify that there are no entailing risks and dangers for chiropractic care, research efforts continue. This will enable health care providers and chiropractors to provide the safest approach at treating medical or physical illnesses. Also, efforts are directed towards opening the eye of individuals about the validity of chiropractic treatment as an option.

If you want to assess the risks and dangers of opting for a chiropractic treatment, then it really stands out as a non-drug form of intervention or treatment.

The best way that you can ensure a safe chiropractic procedure is by opting for trained professionals who have the skills and expertise to perform the treatment, without posing any risks or dangers to the patient’s life.

PostHeaderIcon Thyme

Thyme is a very popular and well known culinary herb. It is a very decorative plant while it is growing and is also very easy to grow as well but be prepared because bees just love Thyme. Many people use Thyme in stews, salads, meats, soups, and vegetables. Thyme is a very common household herb and is a member of the mint family. The plant is very aromatic and comes in many varieties. Thyme is a frequently used herb in many fish dishes. Oddly enough as much as honey bees love to suck the nectar from the Thyme plant is as much as other insects loathe it. Some people have been known to make a mist spray of Thyme and water and use it as a bug repellent.

Various forms of Thyme are available year round but many people prefer to grow their own. Nothing beats the smell and taste of fresh Thyme as long as you know to pick it just as the flowers appear. Once fresh Thyme is harvested it should be stored in either a plastic bag in the crisper or stood straight up in a glass of water on the shelf in the refrigerator for easy access.

The bad news, fresh Thyme does not have a very long shelf life, you will be lucky if it last a week. If you have selected fresh Thyme and decide to dry it then simply hang it upside down in a warm and dry atmosphere for about a week to ten days. Then you can crumble it into a powdery form and stored in a sealed dark container for no more than six months. You want to eliminate the stems as they have a tendency to have a woody taste to them.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

Thyme has some medicinal purposes as well as an antiseptic, an expectorant, and deodorant properties as well. When combined with fatty meats Thyme has been known to aid in digestion too, especially with lamb, pork, and duck. Herbal medicine has used Thyme for various things such as extracts, teas, compresses, for baths, and for gargles. More modern medicine has chimed in and verified that Thyme just might strengthen the immune system.

Distilled Thyme oils have been used for the commercial use of antiseptics, toothpaste, mouthwash, gargle, hair conditioner, dandruff shampoo, potpourri, and insect repellant. It is also used in the production of certain expectorants that are prescribed for whooping cough and bronchitis. Thyme has also been used in part as an aphrodisiac and in aromatherapy oils as well.

If by some chance you are in the middle of cooking recipes that calls for Thyme and you find that you are out do not fret, it is said that you can use a pinch of oregano as a substitute if you have to. Thyme is very often used when cooking European cuisine but is essential for the correct preparation of French foods as it has that faint lemony taste to it. It has also been said that Thyme is one of the only herbs that a cook can not over season with because the flavor is so mild. Thyme is a primary spice that everyone should have stocked in their pantry.

Knowing enough about Herbs to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you’ve just learned about Herbs, you should have nothing to worry about.

PostHeaderIcon Does Your House Need a Kitchen Remodel?

The best course of action to take sometimes isn’t clear until you’ve listed and considered your alternatives. The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant.

Hopefully the information presented so far has been applicable. You might also want to consider the following:

Is it time to upgrade your house with a kitchen remodel? While professionals all agree that remodeling your kitchen can dramatically increase the sales value of your house, there are other considerations to ponder.

First you should consider the overall condition of your house, and that of your kitchen. Is your house a showplace, with beautiful rooms, except for the kitchen? If all the rooms of your house are freshly painted and beautifully decorated, but you’ve been holding out on remodeling the kitchen for reasons of budget or time, you might want to think again. The two rooms of the house which offer the most immediate rewards in terms of increased house value are the bathroom and the kitchen. Most estimates put the value of a kitchen remodel at 80 to 90 percent. That’s a lot of potential value for your house, so it makes sense to remodel as soon as possible.

Even if you aren’t planning to move anytime soon, a kitchen remodel is a huge boon to your house for quality of living considerations alone. Most families and couples spend an enormous amount of time in their kitchen. Over and over again the kitchen is referred to as the heart of the house, because so many activities take place there-cooking, eating, homework, entertaining, to name only a few. Why not make this high-traffic room the most inviting of the house?

If your appliances are out of date or prone to constant break-downs, it is a sign you might want to consider a kitchen remodel. There are so many new energy-efficient models on the market, it makes good sense for your house budget to invest in these appliances. You’ll get more pleasure from using them, too. If you find yourself going out to eat repeatedly during the course of any given week, it may also be time for some upgrades. Not wanting to spend time in your house is a sure sign it needs some attention! If a kitchen is awkwardly laid out or inefficient, it can certainly affect your desire to cook or entertain. Who wants to invite guests to their house when it is difficult to cook a meal for them?

Another thing to consider is the needs of your family. Additions to your brood may require additions to your house, and the kitchen is going to be one of the first spaces that will show the strain of over-use. High traffic in a room wears it out more quickly. Since the kitchen is one of the highest-traffic areas in the house, remodeling it with durable yet attractive materials simply makes good sense. You’ll enjoy the bright new improvements now and reap the benefit of added resale value when you are ready to move.

Even if you’ve not actively considered remodeling your kitchen, you might want to take a look at it. The pleasure you will gain from your house and its increased value will make it worthwhile. Start doing some research today and before you know it, you’ll catch the excitement about remodeling.

PostHeaderIcon Kitchen Remodeling Ideas and Floors

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

It is easy to be excited when shopping for kitchen flooring after we have gone through hundreds of home interior design magazines but it is not advisable to choose a material based on looks alone. Narrow the choices to a few of your favorites and then take a trip to a flooring store or home center for a test drive.

We do most activity in the kitchen while we are standing so it is smart to look for something that is easy on the legs. While shopping take your shoes off and stand on the floor in your stocking feet and see how it feels. Is the floor comfortable or too hard under your feet? Put your shoes back on and go for a walk and see how the floor sounds on the noise level. Today’s kitchens are more open than ever attaching to the den or even opening up to the great room. The noise from shoes can create problems while others are talking or watching TV. Remember too that the kitchen is typically the busiest spot in the house so you want a floor that wears well too. With the kids and the animals it doesn’t take long to wear the floor down, not to mention all the foot traffic and spills. Durability is important in today’s full families and ease of maintenance should be taken into consideration too.

These are different floorings to be considered:

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

Wood fits a variety of decor styles and is warm underfoot, easy on the legs and is basically a quiet floor option. The maintenance and durability of a wood floor depend greatly on what species of wood is being used and how that wood is finished. One of the worries with wood is that it may be scratched, but wood floors can always be sanded and refinished.
For homeowners who want an exceptionally durable floor and requires little maintenance, laminate is a great option. Laminate is factory-finished and can be easily installed over an existing floor making installation a breeze. While laminate has its advantages, it lacks the warmth and character typically associated with natural wood and some may find it noisy.

Ceramic tile allows for a great deal of customization in terms of colors and patterns. Though tile is easy to clean with a damp mop, the surrounding grout can be difficult to maintain and keep clean. Ceramic tile can be very hard on the legs not to mention dropped dishes. It doesn’t help with sound control in the kitchen and can be quite cold underfoot.
If you are on a tight budget than vinyl sheeting or peel and stick tiles are for you. Vinyl is easy to install and is available in an endless array of colors and patterns. One of the drawbacks to vinyl floors is that the edges can curl and peel.

Linoleum flooring is making a comeback due to its green appeal. Made from linseed oil, cork dust, wood flour, tree resins, ground limestone and pigments, this kitchen flooring is environmentally friendly. There are other green options that are environmentally friendly but of course there are advantages and disadvantages to each type of flooring. The key is to go with your own kitchen flooring ideas and in the long run your floor will reflect your taste and fit with your lifestyle.

PostHeaderIcon Chiropractic Care and Treatment For Scoliosis

Current Treatment For Scoliosis

Scoliosis happens when your spine develops a sideways curve, resulting to a feeling of stiffness or pain. Despite the widespread of the condition and thorough research, its real cause remain unknown. However, it is determined to be far more common in women than in men and usually begins during childhood. To help prevent the worsening of scoliosis, early detection is crucial. This problem cannot be adjusted by correcting your posture, unlike other spinal problems.

Typical treatment options for scoliosis involve the following:

*Bracing: A patient suffering from 30-degrees or less of curvature is required to wear a rigid brace. It helps to place pressure against the spine for more stability. However, this treatment option is quite inconvenient for the patient as it has to be worn up to 24 hours a day and is quite uncomfortable.

*Surgery: For scoliosis, it is specifically referred to as Spinal Fusion Surgery wherein a spinal cord monitor is used to avoid paralysis. It is performed with an incision and reduction of the curve or insertion of mteal rods on each side of the spine. Since this procedure is expensive and dangerous, doctors recommend surgery only as a last resort for treating scoliosis.

Using Chiropractic Approach

Nowadays, chiropractic care is recognized as a valid solution to scoliosis. Since chiropractors follow a standard procedure of initial examination and assessment of patient’s health history, most scoliotic patients undergo the Adam’s Forward Bending Test to see if chiropractic care is really for you. On top of that are a variety of range of motion studies to see if you should be referred to a specialist.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and Chiropractic Care experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Chiropractic Care.

Chiropractic Treatment Options

Chiropractic treatment for scoliosis utilize a variety of treatment methods including spinal manipulation, shoe lifts, electric stimulation, and isotonic or active exercise methods. The idea behind employing chiropractic for scoliotic treatment is to arrive at a combination treatment that is both manipulative and rehabilitative.

Chiropractic Care vs Spinal Surgery

Chiropractic care is gaining popularity as a treatment for scoliotic patients since it has been proven to be just as effective, if not more, than the existing treatment options for scoliosis. Chiropractic does not only treat any existing problems but also prevents further progression of the curves that is causing the problem. Of all patients who’ve undergone chiropractic care for scoliosis, about 70 percent have shown significant improvement in terms of the size of the curves. This is important since any relief from scoliosis means that a patient won’t have to undergo surgery, take medications, and suffer from the effects of scoliosis.

Due to the significant numbers of scoliotic patients who found relief from chiropractic care, health experts and doctors have recommended chiropractic as one of the first approaches to be used for this particular condition. Results of using chiropractic treatment range from improved stabitility, reduced size of curves, and even total correction.

Follow-up Treatments

After your chiropractic treatment for scoliosis, you need to regularly visit your doctor for continued observance of any progress you have in your condition. If you are really dedicated in eliminating your problems of scoliosis and lead a healthier life, then it is important to seek the guidance of a skilled chiropractor to monitor the development.

On top of your chiropractic treatment, they might suggest additional physical therapy to enhance any treatment you are currently undergoing from your chiropractor. The purpose of these is to increase muscle strength and gain more mobility.

PostHeaderIcon Frankincense

Since farther back than anyone can remember Frankincense has been used for medicinal and religious purposes. Early Egyptians used Frankincense as part of their embalming process, the Greeks used it as an antidote to hemlock poisoning, and the Chinese used it for trading as well as for internal and external purposes. Today, Frankincense is used mostly for aroma therapeutics but many have also recognized it as an anti inflammatory, antiseptic, and a diuretic. Some medical research has been done showing a relationship between the possibility of Frankincense and the treatment of osteoarthritis and may have some anti cancer fighting agents.

Frankincense has also been shown to help with anxiety, disappointment, hysteria, emotional fatigue, nervousness, congestion, anti inflammatory, immune deficiency, insomnia, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, aphrodisiac, emollient, indigestion, carminative, antiseptic, expectorant, sedative, tonic, and anti tumor.

Frankincense has been around since ancient times and is even mentioned in the Bible. The Jews offered up Frankincense in ceremonies. It seems that different regions use Frankincense for different reasons; the Chinese use Frankincense to treat leprosy, Egyptians used Frankincense to pain women’s eyelids, hair remover, and perfume. The main contribution of Frankincense is for respiratory distress and although it was once taken internally but no longer is but now is rather used as more of incense and when it is infused with vapors it can help laryngitis.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Herbs story from informed sources.

Frankincense comes from a tree called the Boswellia Thurifera which can be found in Africa and Arabia. To get Frankincense, they split the trunk of the tree and allow the resin to harden before it is harvested. Frankincense is commonly used in the practice of Wicca which is a religion that practices witchcraft. They use Frankincense for perfumes and believe that it corresponds well with certain days such as Sundays and Wednesdays. What Wicca’s call a solar spell is affiliated with Frankincense in the form of oil or herbs are used for spells and formulas that are related to solar issues.

These spells would be used for such purposes as physical energy, protection, success, and putting an end to specific legal issues. When you refer to Frankincense in the form of essential oils it is very expensive and is usually diluted with other oils or jojoba oil. These combinations are also used by the Wicca’s when casting spells. Some people prefer to substitute Rosemary for Frankincense.

Ironically enough never forget that Frankincense was one of the beautiful gifts that were brought to baby Jesus on the night of his birth by one of the three wise men. This is also used to increase menstrual flow, to treat syphilis, for unsightly scars and stretch marks, and breast cysts. Further it is used to treat acne, boils, and skin infections as well. Frankincense is one herb that is not edible and is not known for use in any recipe contrary to those who believe that Frankincense is used in Indian cuisine. It is not known to be used in any cuisine at all but it is extremely helpful for the practice of aromatherapy.

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you’ll be glad you took the time to learn more about Herbs.

PostHeaderIcon Creating Mosaic Countertops

If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Kitchen Remodel, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Kitchen Remodel.

Creating a real tile mosaic on almost any surface top is easy. The first step would be to look in a tile shop and see what is available. Then decide on a pattern you want. There are many books, magazines and TV shows that give step by step instructions as well as design ideas. After deciding a pattern or design, sketch your pattern on the surface you are going to tile over. The first step is to prepare the surface making sure the tile will adhere. You do this by scoring the surface with a utility knife then coating the surface with a mixture of watered down white glue. Next you take tile cement, commonly known as thin set or mortar, and spread a thin coating over the surface. Place your tiles in the cement according to the pattern you drew. After the cement has set, (don’t be in too big of a hurry) fill the gaps between the tiles with tile grout. Most people think grout is available only in white but if you look in a hardware store you’ll find many different colors of grout available. You apply the grout by simply troweling it over all of the seams between the individual tiles. Then wipe away the excess with a sponge.

Have you ever been in a cafe, restaurant or a friend’s house for that fact, and admired the mosaic tile on the tabletops or walls? Well, it’s not that hard to bring that look into your own home. Where’s a good place to add a mosaic in your home? Kitchens and bathrooms are the obvious choices but end tables and patios have become favorites too. Consider embellishing a coffee table purchased from an unfinished furniture store. This is a great little week-end project. All you have to do is add a coat of paint and then make a small mosaic on the tabletop using some different size tiles or even broken tile pieces. This same technique works equally well for a larger area like this as it does for a small accent table.
Before starting this project, there are some things you should do first to be prepared.

Take some time researching what you want to do before you start laying tiles down. There are tons of books on ceramic tiles at your bookstore or library. A recommendation is to just thumb through them to get some inspiration for your design. Once you have a basic idea of what you want to do, it’s always a good idea to draw a sketch of your design.

The best time to learn about Kitchen Remodel is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Kitchen Remodel experience while it’s still free.

Then you will want to place the actual tiles on the countertop, starting from the center and working outwards, to make sure your pleased with your design. Once you have everything in place, take a magic marker and mark the tiles’ location.
Before you cement the tiles in place, you have to prepare the tiles for the mosaic sections. How do you do that? This is where you can get some aggression out. Take a mix of tiles, wrap them in a towel and give them a whack. This is the simplest way to get the broken pieces of tile you’ll need for the mosaic. For the border mosaics you are going to need some smaller pieces of tile. For the smaller pieces you use a tile nibbler to break off pieces the size you need. To cement the tiles in place, use mortar that you can buy at any tile store or home improvement store. You just trowel the mortar on about 1/8th inch thick. Then use the edge of the trowel to score the mortar. Then just put your tiles in place. For the mosaic sections you use the same process. Take the different pieces of tile and arrange them however you like. Try and keep the spaces between the tiles to 1/8th of an inch.

How do you finish the project? You have to grout the tiles after the mortar has set up or dried. Remember, tile grout is available in many colors, not just white. Next smear the grout over the top of the tiles filling in the seams. To clean the tiles, wipe off any excess grout with a sponge. Let it dry overnight and you’re done so sit back and admire your work of art!

Now that wasn’t hard at all, was it? And you’ve earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert’s word on Kitchen Remodel.

PostHeaderIcon Grooming Your Pure-Breed or Mixed-Breed Dog

When you think about Dog Grooming, what do you think of first? Which aspects of Dog Grooming are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

And that is: every dog requires a total body grooming. And all of them need to be groomed just the same.

How do you groom your dog then?
